It's my home away from home. It's my home away from home.除了家之外，或許我們也需要一個「避難所」，一個像家一樣溫暖舒適、很有親切感的地方，這個地方可稱做：It’s my home away from home.（這是我另一個家）/ It’s my second home. （這是我第二個家）。在這裡你會感到舒適自在，可以說：I feel very comfortable there。這個地方可能是你朋友的家，或者是別墅、渡假屋(Holiday home / Beach house)等。對話 Adrian:This place is amazing. Do you come here a lot? 阿德里恩:這裡真叫人驚喜，你常常來這裡嗎？ Brian:I’ll say. It’s my home away from home. I feel so comfortable here. 布萊恩:我同意，這裡是我另一個家，我感到舒適自在。 Adrian:I don’t blame you. Now let’s tee off。這tee off是甚麼意思呢？ Let’s tee off即「我們打（高爾夫）球吧」。Tee是高爾夫球用的球座，上置小球；打球者持球桿把球從座上擊出，叫做tee off，例如：At what time do the players tee off?（球員甚麼時候開球？）引伸其義，tee off就是「開始一種活動」，例如：The university teed off its 10th Open Day with a lion dance（大學第十屆開放日以舞獅開場）。 有時，你會看到tee someone off是「激怒某人」的意思，例如：The way he shows off his wealth tees me off（他那樣誇耀財富，讓我十分討厭）。但這個tee off其實和高爾夫球無關，而是俚語piss off的婉轉說法。Piss是「撒尿」，to piss someone off即「激怒某人」。俚語又叫「撒尿」為pee，和tee音近，於是piss someone off變成較隱晦的tee someone off。 A home away from home直譯是「家以外的另一個家」，指像家一樣舒適的地方。這是美式說法，英式是a home from home，例如：The delinquent has been in the reformatory so many times that, to him, it must be a home from home（那少年罪犯多次進入感化院，大概已經視感化院為另一個家了）。 說「像在家一樣舒適」，英文還常用at home二字。例如主人叫客人Make yourself at home，等於說「你自便吧，別客氣」。They were very hospitable, and make me feel at home即「他們很好客，使我賓至如歸」。 .msgcontent .wsharing ul li { text-indent: 0; } 分享 Facebook Plurk YAHOO! .
